Merry Christmas!

T'was Christmas eve, and most were asleep.

Through the front door, I did creep.

For no chimney or warm hearth was here...

Just a mother, with three more hearts dear.

Their tree was a twig, with a bit of foam for a base.

Decorated with a dirty scrap of lace.

A tea candle in front to light it up.

One tiny cookie, for me to sup.

The house was freezing, what could I do?

I found in my bag, thick woolen blankets, more than two.

I looked in the pantry and found it bare,

I placed a large ham, and some canned food there.

Next to the pitiful tree,

I placed a few toys, sure to make glee.

Then went on my way,

I had no time to stay.

But I came back, early to see,

Three young children, delighted as can be.

I saw the young mother, with a tear in her eye.

The gifts of a stranger, didn't pass them by.

Try as I might, I can't do it all.

I need your help.

Merry Christmas, Y'all.
